Krasnoyarsk State Medical University is a leading higher medical University in Siberia and the Far East region. Krasnoyarsk State Medical University holds 17th place in Medical Universities of Russian Federation and 3rd place in Siberia and the Far East region. Krasnoyarsk State Medical Universities a fusion of Leningrad Medical Institute and Leningrad Pediatric dental institute Krasnoyarsk State Medical University was formed in 1942 as Krasnoyarsk Medical Institute by the Order of the All-Union Committee for Higher Education. Till 1958 Krasnoyarsk Medical Institute had only medical faculty, but in 1958 the pediatric faculty was inaugurated. In 1978, faculty of dentistry, in 1992, faculty for Higher Nursing Education and in 2006, the Faculty of Pharmacy was opened. In its history Krasnoyarsk State Medical University has trained more than 30 thousand doctors, pediatricians, dentists, managers and organizers of practical public health. In the last five years Krasnoyarsk State Medical University has trained about 2,500 doctors. Currently the university enrolled about 800 students in all faculties. Krasnoyarsk State Medical University is constantly evolving. In the last five years Krasnoyarsk State Medical University has opened eight new departments morphological Centre, Laboratory of Anthropology, Institute of Nutrition, interdepartmental Biochemical Research Laboratory. Krasnoyarsk State Medical University has implemented new and interesting joint projects on international level together with other universities of Krasnoyarsk, Russia, Japan, France, Italy, Germany and other countries. Today Krasnoyarsk State Medical University has 66 departments and staff of 690 professor and teachers. Krasnoyarsk Medical Institute (1942-1995), Krasnoyarsk State Medical Academy (1995-2009), Krasnoyarsk State Medical University named after Professor V.F. Vojno-Yasenetsky (since 2008). The University is a member of the European Association of Medical Schools and the World Federation of Medical Education. The main directions of development in the university are the development of bio-information technology, as well as the development of the production electronic textbooks and distance learning.

History

In November 1942 Voronezh Dental Institute, parts of 1st and 2nd Leningrad Medical Institutes, and Leningrad Pediatric Dental Institute, the Krasnoyarsk Medical Institute were united. Formation of a new high school was held in stressful conditions. Local government, existing institutions, technical schools, hospitals, industrial enterprises of Krasnoyarsk Territory and other regions and territories of Siberia helped to organize new educational institution. Due to this help in the new university was provided with educational clinical bases, all necessary equipment, reagents, teaching aids, and began to prepare the medical staff for the front. First graduates - several dozen doctors - six months later went to the front. Many graduated students in later years began their professional career at the front of World War II. the university had only general medicine faculty. In 1958 was opened pediatric faculty, and three years later - Faculty of Advanced Medicine. In 1978 Faculty of Dentistry was established, 1992 - Faculty of Higher Nursing Education. In 2005, the Institute of Dentistry was established on the basis of the Faculty of Dentistry. In June 1995 Russian Ministry of Health Ordered to rename Krasnoyarsk State Medical Institute into Krasnoyarsk State Medical Academy. In 2007, Academy was given the name of Professor V. F. VojnoYasenetsky, and in 2008 KrasSMU assigned medical university status. In recent years all lecture halls, a large part of the area departments of theoretical and clinical profile, gymnasium, auditorium, library, dormitory was upgraded. Annually KrasSMU organize up to 10 conferences with international participation in priority areas, educational and scientific activities (for this purpose was opened the international hall with simultaneous translation).
